Shaman Rock: Olkhon Island, Russia
Olkhon Island is regarded as the world’s 3rd largest lake-bound lake. Only 2 islands in Canada beat it. It has an area of 280 sq. miles, or about 33 Naurus. It resides in Lake Baikal, which is in eastern Siberia. Less than 1,500 people live on the island, and most of those are the native Buryats. Shaman Rock is Baikal’s most famous landmark. Natives believe that a religious cult leader named Burkhan lives in a cave in the rock.
